Create instant style with table lamps

Here at Blue Isle, we have a small but carefully chosen collection of table lamps.

Ranging from the contemporary, matt grey metal tall lamp, to the more classic urn and column lamps, there is something to suit most styles.

For a wow-factor, choose our tall statement carved lamp, and place two on either side of a piece of furniture you want to draw attention to .

There’s no better way to instantly refresh a room scheme than by adding some strategic lamps.

Add a pair of statement lamps to a console table or chest, and you create a bit of instant symmetry and a focal point in any room. You can frame a centralised picture, or place the lamps either side of a decorative object.

As the rain lashes against the windows, and we ‘um’ and ‘ah’ as to whether it’s too early to put the heating on (it’s not, it’s so cold!), summer has well and truly said its farewells.

Go as over the top as you want. More lights means more warmth and more chances to create a certain mood or atmosphere. Go for a cluster of lamps or tea-lights to turn your lighting into a focal point. One lamp on it’s own in a large room, may run the risk of getting lost amongst the furniture, so think of your lamps and lights as important accessories to draw the room together.

Favourite features

Pick out your favourite features of a room and cleverly angle your lighting to highlight them. Use the lights to your advantage and show them off. Maybe you have some interesting wall art, your favourite family photos, or an attractive fireplace? Choose wisely and position lamps around them.

Mix and Match

Do go for lots of lighting, but try and keep it varied. Hanging lights may be great for illuminating a room quickly, but they’re not so cosy at night when you’re huddled in bed reading a good book. Give yourself a range of options so you can great a different atmosphere to suit your mood. Don’t forget that candles are a perfectly good source of light for those autumn nights, plus they smell amazing and they’re incredibly relaxing after a hard days work.

Don’t forget me!

Create some atmosphere by lighting those forgotten and neglected areas of the room. Turn those ‘negative spaces’ into brighter, warming areas. Look to the empty windowsill, or the gap between the sofas and the wall or the TV. Fill these areas with soft, subtle light, so think warm coloured semi-translucent shades.
